In an effort to cut fuel costs many people use portable space heaters instead of central heating. This is especially true as the weather starts to become warmer as we move into spring. That said, electrical space heaters can be used at any time of year to provide a heating boost. In fact they can also be used in conjunction with central heating to provide the level of heating that you require.
Of course, the more household heating devices that are in use, the higher your fuel bill will become. Not only that, there is the environmental impact to consider. Some people these days do not really care about that too much though and are happy to use any and all heating appliances they have access to. Not that I agree with this attitude however. There is a compromise between the harmful effects more heating has on the planet and actually keeping your living area nice and warm. That is to use efficient heating solutions. For example you could try an oil filled space heater. These types of appliances are great because they can be used to keep you warm but at the same time do not require endless amounts of electricity to operate. One of the many benefits of this type of radiator is that it stays warm long after the power has been turned off.
But how can it remain warm with no energy source? This is because of the oil that the heating appliance contains. It uses a special kind of heat conducting oil that is warmed up by the electrical heating elements within the radiator. This oil then slowly releases its heat over time to the outer parts of the radiator. So even after you switch it off it still has plenty of heat left to pass out.
That said, you have to be aware that oil filled radiators do not heat up as instantaneously as other types of electrical heaters for example halogen heaters. But on the positive side we get long lasting heat from them.
